Ontario Japanese Seniors Golf Tournament
ONTARIO JAPANESE SENIORS GOLF TOURNAMENT.
We run an annual golf tournament for JC Seniors. It started in 1968 with 16 men, all over age 50 and all from BC. By 1976 there were 100 golfers, including 16 women. By 1989, the number of golfers had grown to 190, which was too many to handle on a golf course. So in 1990, the age limit for men was raised from 50 to 60, the age for ladies remained the same. In 2018, we decided to lower the age for senior men to 55 years of age in order to attract more golfers as our numbers had started to fall. Our last tournament was in 2019 before the pandemic. We had 108 golfers, and 15 dinner guests for a total of 123.
