JAPANESE CANADIAN SENIOR LUNCHEON AND MEMORIAL SERVICE.
This special memorial service and luncheon will be dedicated to our senior members it will go far beyond the annual keirokai luncheons as this occasion will also honour fellow members, family and friends who have passed in the last two years since the COVID-19 pandemic started. Since the pandemic started, many funeral services and memorial services have been postponed indefinitely and some still haven’t taken place. We feel it is necessary to honour all of those who passed before us but also to honour the strong will and resilience of our existing senior congregation. Our resident Reverend Tatsuya Aoki will precede over this extraordinary service to give thanks to those who have passed on in the last two years but also to honour and thank all of our senior members who survived since WWII. After the service, a special luncheon will be served to our members and will be prepared outside. Since most of our members are seniors, our after service luncheons would typically be prepared and served by our seniors however at the event we will be ordering some higher-end bento boxes off-site. During the lunch, we would like to have performances by local artists such as Chibi Taiko and Rikyu Taiko groups and then provide gift cards from Fujiya as they have been long supporters of the VBT.
