2017 Special Luncheon

Video by TorontoNAJC of their 2017 Special Luncheon Honouring Japanese Canadians on the 75th Anniversary of their Internment and Displacement in Canada in years 1942-46. The Luncheon was attended by over 300 former internees and their relatives who viewed a historic photo exhibit of themselves in the various internment and road camps in which they were unjustly and forcibly placed  for the duration of the Second World War.

Topic: JCSHWF – Application Assistance and Q&A

Our next set of Zoom Sessions are on Application Assistance. There will two sessions for the Organizations and Small Groups and two sessions for the Underserved Individuals. These will be on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm and Saturdays at 10 am. The sessions will walk you through the application and show you mock samples of things to focus on and how much detail is required. There will be time allocated for Questions & Answers.

Here is the schedule and the Zoom links for the four sessions. We will record one of the Organization and Small Group sessions and one of the Underserved Individual sessions and have them available on the website under Resources – Videos.

Community Brainstorming

Do you want to share expenses for a guest speaker?

Central Vancouver Island Japanese Canadian Cultural Society is looking to bring guest speaker Dr. Satsuki Ina to speak at a survivors event. She is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in community trauma. She was born in a Japanese American Internment Camp in 1944 and has presented on the Japanese WWII experience.
